1. Akkuro launched Kuro, its agentic banking product, last year. How do you see agentic AI, specifically Kuro’s contextual intelligence layer, changing the way banks build and launch financial products?

Most banks have enough ideas and ambition. They lack the ability to turn those ideas into products quickly enough.

Kuro changes that. Bankers can describe what they want, by voice or text, and Kuro connects the dots across customer needs, product rules, risk policies, operational workflows and market intelligence. So it flips the bias: the next scarcity will be innovative business ideas, not product development.

Kuro understands not only what the bank wants to build, but what it takes to make it work. Agents can analyse competing propositions, identify missing capabilities and recommend changes that keep the bank ahead.

The result is a fundamentally different operating model: products are no longer designed once and launched months later. They are created, adapted and improved continuously.

The winning bank will not be the most digital one. It will be the most adaptive.

2. One of the hardest parts of banking transformation is replacing legacy systems without disrupting day-to-day operations. How does Akkuro’s API-driven, cloud-native architecture allow banks to do so with minimal disruption?

Banks cannot afford to pause operations while they reinvent themselves. Nor should they have to.

Akkuro’s API-driven, cloud first architecture allows banks to introduce new capabilities alongside existing systems: lending, deposits, wealth, whatever the market demands.

Instead of replacing everything at once, banks modernise progressively, one product, journey or customer segment at a time.

That means less disruption, faster results and the freedom to evolve without being held hostage by legacy.

Modern banking does not start over. It builds forward.

3. Akkuro recently partnered with Backbase to combine its core banking technology with Backbase’s AI-powered digital banking platform. What does this partnership bring to the Philippines?

Customers do not experience banking in layers. They experience one bank.

Our partnership with Backbase brings those layers together: Backbase powers the digital experience, while Akkuro powers the financial products and operations behind it.

For banks in the Philippines, that means one connected proposition across lending, deposits and digital wealth, without stitching together another patchwork of systems.

The result: faster innovation, stronger customer relationships and a bank that can finally move as quickly as its customers expect.

4. The Philippines has a mix of traditional banks, digital banks and fintechs. Where do you think composable banking could have the biggest impact in this market?

The biggest opportunity is helping banks move beyond transactions and serve customers across their financial lives.

In the Philippines, that means faster financing for underserved SMEs, more accessible lending for consumers and digital wealth propositions that help people save, invest and build their future.

Composable banking makes this possible without starting from scratch. Traditional banks can modernise progressively, digital banks can expand beyond payments, and fintechs can add financial capabilities as their customers’ needs evolve.

The market does not need more disconnected products. It needs financial services that grow with the people and businesses they serve.

5. How significant do you think are platforms like WFIS for the Philippines?

Banking is changing faster than any one institution can navigate alone. That is why platforms like WFIS matter.

They bring together banks, fintechs, regulators and technology partners to address a shared question: how do we build a financial sector that can keep adapting?

For the Philippines, that means discussing practical opportunities across lending, financial inclusion and digital wealth and finding the right partners to bring them to life.

The winning bank will not be the most digital one. It will be the most adaptive. WFIS helps create the connections that make that possible.
